An experienced clinical physician based in Gig Harbor, Washington, Dr. Ian B. Lawson earned his MD from the University of British Columbia. For several years, he has focused on administrative medicine. Previously, Ian B. Lawson, MD, spent nearly a decade as an orthopedic surgeon at Mountain Orthopedic Specialists in Tacoma, Washington.
Dr. Lawson began his medical training at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, British Columbia, followed by an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of British Columbia and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery with the University of Western Ontario. He maintains board certification with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a member of numerous professional groups, including the Canadian Orthopaedic Association and the Washington State Medical Society.
Dr. Lawson has served on numerous committees throughout his career in medicine, including the Multicare Physician Advisory Council, the Allenmore Hospital Operations Committee, and the Tacoma Orthopaedic Society, where he served as president. He has published papers on various medical topics, such as elbow arthrodesis, prosthetic hip infections, and burst fractures of the fifth lumbar vertebrae.
